Marina Inn and Suites - New Owners 2018

Located towards the end of Indian Point, near Indian Point Marina and Park, the Marina Inn is one of the prominent landmarks when approaching the end of the point. Though it has stood as an established inn since 1960, for years this resort has just recently seen new management. As of early 2018, Marina Inn has been under the ownership of Eric Scheele and Cory Poulsen, owners and operating partners of KC Property Guys, LLC. KC Property Guys is eager to do what they can to help the area thrive, and they also hope to become a part of the local community.

Eric and Cory are originally from Kansas City and Central Nebraska area respectively. Eric manages the day to day operations of the KC Property Guys Investment Group and the Real Estate Transaction Team. Cory owns and manages Superior Restoration and Construction and oversees KC Pier in partnership with Eric, a foundation repair company. Both have said they had dreamed of owning a resort for years and specifically in the Branson area which Eric has been visiting multiple times per year for the past 25 years. Eric and Cory began considering their options to start the new chapter of KC Property Guys in resort ownership for the past couple years. They had looked at around a dozen resorts before settling on Marina Inn.

Eric and Cory discussed future plans they had for the resort. Being clean, affordable and family-friendly is the goal KC Property Guys has for the Marina Inn. Cory states, “The bones of the Marina Inn are great. We don’t want to drastically change what the Inn has offered for years, but we do want to update the units and maintain our affordable cost point for our vacationing guests.” Cory said he would like to see the restaurant that recently sold next to the Marina Inn come back to life. “I’ve been told the restaurant site was recently purchased last year by a couple in Iowa that runs a very nice restaurant in Iowa and they are planning to bring our next door neighbor restaurant property back to life which would be great to see,” Cory said.

KC Property Guys decided to keep the name of the Marina Inn, who Eric described as a bit tired by reading some of the reviews online, but feels they can overcome some of the old review challenges that come with new ownership of any transfer of an established property. “We are going to add to the name a bit, so the new name will be Marina Inn and Suites to highlight the fact that we offer up to 6 bedroom units for up to 18 people,” Eric said. “We are due for a lot of new paint, new flooring and decor. We are even considering developing a few themed rooms which would be fun.”

Resort ownership is not expected to come without its share of challenges, and KC Property Guys are in the process of adapting, listening and learning from people in the area. As huge fishing and water fans, Eric and Cory want to help the local sport fishing economy and plan to promote local guides and anglers together for the trout and bass fishery on Table Rock and Taneycomo. Eric said he will be in contact with guides to see if they want to participate in duel marketing.

Among the reasons KC Property Guys had chosen Marina Inn, they had felt there was truly a community in the area for them to be a part. “I think it’s important that people know that we aren’t trying to come in and make huge changes or take over markets,” Cory said. “We want to keep the integrity of what this place was, freshen it up, get to know our neighbors, and be a part of the Branson and Indian Point community.”
